Since we found out we were pregnant we have been praying for some direction in regards to Matt's job. We wanted him to be able to sell his business and find a different job that would enable him to be home with us more.
In August he started applying for jobs with companies that are closely related to his business, for jobs that his degree is in, for jobs that are referred from close friends. Each of them could have easily been "the one". We prayed that God would close the door immediately though if it was not where he wanted us to go. Well, HE DID!
In January we came face to face with "what the heck to we do now?" Matt did not get the jobs he thought he would and the business does not have another contract until April. Now we know that the word says the Lord wants to prosper us. It also says he hears our cries and knows the desires of our heart. This was an extremely trying time for the two of us. We have a new baby, little sleep and the weight of the world on our shoulders trying to figure what it is that God wants us to do as a family and what He wants Matt to do as a husband and head of this home.
So, in absolute desperation we cried and when I say cried I mean we literally cried to God for some help.
I had told Matt that if we could not figure something out by the following Monday then I was going to pursue a part time job. The next morning we were praying together and we started talking. I said something about him possibly going seminary.
Matt said he would have to think about that one!
So, he did and he felt like that was something the Lord may want. He met with one of our pastors and talked to him about pursuing this call.
He was very supportive and gave Matt a lot of helpful information, that he will share later.
This was the first time in months that we had complete peace and excitement in our house. Which to be honest seemed a little odd, since we were entering into the complete unknown.
Matt has applied to Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. Where is that you may ask? A SMALL SMALL town..well their website refers to them as a "village". Are you kidding me? Guess living in Drumright has just been a stepping stone to prepare us for this "village".
Anyhow, back to the Monday deadline. In deciding to pursue Seminary we decided to completely sell Matt's business and pay off ALL our debt. We were sitting around that Monday morning talking and BAM an email comes through saying "Don't sell the trailer to anyone else. I will send you the money now and pick it up at the end of the month." YES!!! She wired the money to our account the next morning! Praise God...how cool is that?!
Then, this past week Matt drove to Texas to get his equipment from the Speedway. On his way he called some fellow workers and they bought a couple pieces of equipment for the exact amount we need to be able to pay off another entire loan we had at the bank! Again, PRAISE GOD!
Right now we are praying to sell his other concession trailer....his final acceptance letter from ATS....to get out of his truck and into a car.
