Our Special Leap Day

February 29-2012. We arrive at the hospital at 10 am. Things are going as planned. We check in, get an IV started, listen to Josiah's heart on the monitor, and start the wait for noon when we are supposed to meet our son.
Kentucky weather had another plan. Our doctor arrived a little late at 12:30 pm. It was at this time that I headed down the hall, climbed on the OR table, then...WAIT! Sorry Jennie, you have to go back in wait in pre-op. We are under a tornado warning and have to wait to start. So, back down the hall I go to wait. Finally, at a little after 1:00 pm we head back down the hall to the OR room. Radio was playing "She's a Brick House" lol. Guess it was setting the mood.
This delivery was completely different then Emmalynn's. Matt was able to video the delivery (WAY COOL), cut the cord and keep our baby boy with us for a bit. It was special!
Josiah was healthy and returned to us very soon.

Do I look relaxed?!
Matt is READY!
Oh wait, go back and wait some more!

First time seeing I saw our son!

Emmalynn calls him "baby brother" instead of Josiah. She asked to hold him right when she saw him. Then looks at him and says "aww cute". He is pretty cute, and so is she! I love my babies more then I ever thought possible.
Since mommy is at the "doctor", Emmalynn wanted to help take care of me. I love this little girl...who seems so big now that Josiah is here.

Our perfect little boy!

This is my cuddle baby!

So, we had Josiah on a Wednesday and I was set to go home on Friday. Again, NOPE! Thursday night I got really sick and found out that I had pneumonia. I was miserable to say the least and extremely sad that I would not be able to just go home and be with Emmalynn and our new little family. In the midst of staying another night in the hospital, more bad weather headed our way Friday night. Janetta was visiting me at the hospital while Matt was home with Emmalynn. Since, we were under another tornado warning they made everyone move to the halls. This was quite a sight to see: a bunch of women, babies and their families all in the hall. After feeling claustrophobic and a lady invading our personal space; Janetta and I finally moved across the hall and could breathe. We spent the next few hours out there. Needless to say, I was not feeling so hot and just wanted to go back to my hospital bed. (who wants to get in a hospital bed?!)
The night ended well with our "Celebratory Dinner". Janetta helped me celebrate by having steak and sparkling grape juice. We saved some dessert for Matt when he returned. :)
All, this to say that Josiah is one special baby boy and his arrival was anything but dull!

Now that we are home, this is how Josiah likes to pass the time. And yes, this is a PINK swing. He feels relaxed in pink.
Sleeping with Daddy!
